Princess with a Secret?
Eh? I hear you say. well, lets just say I want to leave it open to interpretation

So it basically is, use any image from any of my stock that relate to the theme ' a princess with a secret' Dead simple

So what count as 'a princess with a secret'you say? Well whatever you can make count basically! I'm not going to be picky! If you can explain a link, then it counts.

_{(But here are some ideas incase you want a proper starting point! )}

It can be something light hearted, a young princess with a secret spot in the garden she loves to visit, perhaps she talks to the fairies but can't tell anyone because they don't believe her.
Perhaps its something a little darker, maybe the young princess is into black magick. Perhaps she has a secret lover?
Perhaps she has been assigned to under go a secret task, care for a secret mystical item.

Or you can look at it from the other direction, the character in your work is a princess who long ago ran away from her royal life, and now is spending her days on the high seas battling pirates, riding alone through battle lands etc etc and will tell no one of who she is supposed to be.

Remember the princess does not have to be strictly human; she can be the vampire queens heir, daughter of Poseidon, an elven princess…

So think about what the secret can be, a place, a friend, a lover, a hobby, a lifestyle, a item..

..and the 'secret' does not have to play the main role in your art. It can be a small detail, just a little something to give it away. As long as you explain your story in your deviation description its fine


I'm sure you can think of lots more ideas but please don't be put off using any I've listed here, you wont be discredited! in fact d be flattered that you thought my ideas were any good! lol

so whats it all about?
well, all you have to do is create an image, related to 'a princess with a secret' using my stock! simple eh.

ah, so i have to use your stock, does this mean this is a photo manipulation competition?
nope. its open to all artists.
you can use my stock as a reference for a digital or traditional drawing, and it doesn't need to be a photorealistic copy either. it is perfectly acceptable, say, if you were drawing a fairy, and you wanted to use my stock for a reference on her clothing- the pose in the stock is irrelevant.

so can i use other people stocks?
yes, all the other stock you want!
my stock does not have to be the focus of your art either, you can just use it as a minor detail. I'm quite happy for you to create a scene and just use one of my stock images as a small detail in the background.
My women stock does not have to be the princess either, it can play another character in your work.
but my stock does have to be clearly visible!

sounds cool, so how do i enter?
submit your deviation in the usual way, into the normal categories, whether that be digital, traditional art or whatever.
in the description mention you are entering `lucias-tears's 'A Princess With A Secret Competition, don't forget to credit the stock that you've used, and a link back to this journal entry would be kind but not totally necessary
send me a note with the subject 'Princess competition entry'. - please only note this art account, `lucias-tears, with entries not my stock account!

can i enter a deviation i have already created?
yes, but it must not have more than 10 s

and we only get the enter once?
nope, enter as many times as you like! I'm always adding new stocks so it would be unfair to those who entered earlier if you could only enter once!

so how long to we have to enter?
until 31st August
apart from submitting art, is there any other way we can get involved?
yes!
im always looking for those kind souls that are generous enough to donate prizes for the competition
i'l also be on the look out for people to fill positions on my  private judging panel (don't worry I'll contact you)
also just generally promoting this competition, mentioning it in your journal, creating stamps for it, anything would be hugely appreciated!

what can i donate as a prize?
Don't worry I'm well aware not everyone is lucky enough to be able to spare subscriptions an prints but there are loads of other things to offer! perhaps features in your journal? original painting's and other art works, avatar and deviant ID commissions, print products, i.e. magnets, mugs.., private stock photos! commissioned portraits! the chance to be a part of a major art project you are doing (maybe base one of your character or cards on the winner?) do you make jewellery? bath products? there are just sooooo many things!

yes you can! just if you win, you just dont pick your donation as your prize!
you can also enter if you want to be on the judging panel - however i do approach and pick those judges myself closer to the end date so thats out of your hands, but you can do both! you just dont get to vote for your entry!

why get involved? (other than the lovely warm dA spirity feeling you'll get inside? ).
This competition is going to be huge! last time nearly 200 deviants entered and that's a great chance for exposure!

how will the winners be chosen?
there will be three winners (maybe even more if i gather enough prizes!)
- one will be chosen by myself
- one will be decided by an open poll that absolutely everyone in dA can vote in
- one will be chosen by a private panel of judges
